================================================================== Guide to creating Civic Screens ================================================================== 1. Text on buttons is as follows Front buttons: 21pt Arial regular. Chapter buttons: 14pt Arial regular. Text should be created in Photoshop 4.7 and the image should be 24 million colors RGB before inserting text or it will be jagged and doesn't look as good. create one button for 800x600 screen resolutions and one for 640x480. call the button for 640 wide the same name as you called the button for 800x600 except put an "x" before it. There is a piece of Javascript in the head of every screen which checks the rez of the screen before displaying. make sure the buttons are named "button1" to "button15" and intro is "button16". The script for chapter pages is different to the one for front pages due to the fact that an intro button is included on these. Also, on some screens, wiring diagram buttons are included. These should be named "button17" and once again the script has a slight difference. All screens are displayed in tables, because Netscape 4.0 layers cannot be right-justified. Tables were recently introduced to screen, so don't overwrite these with the old screens which used layers and displayed nowhere near as effectively as tables. Images should be saved as jpg's. When they are more widely supported by new browsers, png's could be used instead.
